Messy Hands Summer Arts Camp 2021

The Messy Hands Summer Arts Camp 2021: Our World is Color was a week-long immersive live class with local art professionals who shared their love of their craft and taught others. Ariadne (Ari) Albright led young artists in visual art creation and comprehension, Marcella Remund helped little literary geniuses fall in love with colorful words, and Rebecca McNamara showed how to move and create shapes with their bodies colorfully. The classes were held via Zoom, allowing them to be accessed from any compatible device, and students were provided with a backpack full of supplies to support their creative process throughout the camp and throughout the year. The Arts Council also offered coordination for participants who wished to learn in a small-group setting and/or preferred technological support. The kids’ camp (ages 5-12) was held on July 19-23, and the teen’s camp (plus adults) was on July 26-30. The exciting cornerstone of this year’s camp was “art backpacks” full of art supplies for participating students, providing them with all the supplies they needed to participate in the camp, as well as to pursue art independently.
