It is an honor to announce that I am a recipient of the CDC Foundation Arts & Vaccine Grant. This award recognizes the important role that the arts play in promoting public health and community well-being.

The Creating Healthy Communities 2022 Convening, presented by the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine and hosted by the Pabst Steinmetz Foundation and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, will focus on creating stronger, healthier, and more equitable communities through cross-sector collaboration. The conference will bring together professionals from the arts, public health, and community development sectors to share impactful program and practice models, generate dialogue around key issues that impact health and well-being, and provoke ideation, innovation, and solutions to these issues.

The goals of the convening include:

• Convening professionals from the arts, public health, and community development sectors
• Sharing impactful program and practice models
• Generating dialogue around key issues that impact health, well-being, and health equity
• Provoking ideation, innovation, and solutions to these issues
• Strengthening partnerships between the arts, public health and community development sectors in the United States and beyond

This event is open to a wide range of individuals, including:

• Artists, arts professionals, arts educators, arts activists, creative arts therapists, and arts researchers
• Public health, community health, global health healthcare, social services and human services professionals, educators, and researchers
• Community builders, community development professionals, planners, architects
• Community members and organizers who advocate for the health of their communities
• Social change agents, advocates, policy-makers, and funders in the arts, public health, and community development
• Educators, students, and researchers working at the intersections of arts and public health

I am excited to be a part of this convening and to contribute to the conversation on how the arts can promote public health and community well-being. I look forward to connecting with other professionals in the field and learning about new and innovative approaches to addressing public health challenges.
